About the Programs:

This position will provide coordination support to YCI’s Innovate ME and HerStart: Innovate the Future programs. YCI’s Innovate ME international youth internship program provides Canadian youth with the opportunity to accelerate their career journey while engaging in Canada’s international development efforts. Youth are recruited, trained and placed remotely with local partner organizations working in diverse sectors, including digital technology, education and gender equality. YCI’s HerStart: Innovate the Future aims to foster and create innovative solutions for a more equitable and prosperous economy within Ghana, Tanzania and Uganda. The program includes training and support for aspiring women entrepreneurs in social enterprise, gender responsive business planning, the measurement of social impact, and access to finance. Canadian and local volunteers are engaged to provide support to country teams and partner organizations in areas such as gender equality, climate action, and innovation.

Position Summary:

The Programs Coordinator, reporting to the Program & Partnerships Lead, will be responsible for providing coordination support to YCI’s international programs portfolio, contributing to programming that promotes youth skill development and application through hands-on-experience in the international development sector. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator with experience designing and facilitating trainings and coordinating multi-faceted programs. They will have strong stakeholder engagement skills, alongside recruitment and coaching experience.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Training Facilitation & Resource Development: Facilitate dynamic training sessions for participants throughout both program cycles; contribute to the development and iteration of high-quality training curriculum, agendas and materials; lead participant coaching sessions and check-in meetings to provide ongoing mentorship; support the development of creative program tools, processes and resources.
  • Project Coordination & Administration: Efficiently track various program requirements and maintain excellent project files; schedule and support the execution of program trainings, meetings and events; support in the collection, analysis and reporting of program monitoring and evaluation data; coordinate and collaborate with a variety of domestic and international stakeholders towards the best possible program results.
  • Recruitment & Communications: Support the coordination and execution of marketing, recruitment and onboarding processes for YCI fellowship and internship programs; facilitate active engagement of program participants through communication platforms (such as Slack and Mighty Networks); support YCI Communications Team in collecting communications materials for public engagement opportunities.

Skills and Experience:

You are a dynamic facilitator with 3+ years experience in project coordination; you are passionate and eager to contribute to innovative youth programming in the employment and international development sectors; you have exceptional spoken and written communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire youth through engaging trainings and online curriculum; you can see the big picture and contribute to YCI’s international programs portfolio strategy while keeping a close eye on detail; you can implement systems which lead to strong participant engagement and successful delivery and tracking of programs outcomes (using platforms such as Slack, Mighty Networks and Airtable); you are able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, proactively move work forward, adapt quickly and be counted on to deliver exceptional results; you have experience working with youth and/or volunteers from diverse backgrounds; preferably you have strong French language skills.
