Karen created Grayscale Sustainability with the goal to share tools and resources on living a sustainable, socially conscious lifestyle and inspiring others to do the same. The project focuses on sharing an intersectional perspective since underserved communities are typically affected most by environmental issues and considered least when looking for solutions. Karen and her team hope to help people combat feelings of environmental guilt and anxiety by connecting and empowering them to be more conscious and take action.
Karen lives in Hamilton, Ontario and is currently pursuing qualifications in Child and Youth Care at Mohawk College. She is motivated to take climate action by the interconnected environmental and social issues as well as the increase in climate disasters around the globe. Through YCI’s Youth Climate Leadership Program, Karen and her team hope to create awareness, connect with the community, and empower people in their journey towards a more sustainable and socially conscious lifestyle.
