Jyoti

Jyoti founded Project Greenery – an initiative with a mission to help youth create green cities through planting native trees and advocating for more sustainable and accessible transit. Many cities and governments have plans to become greener, but these goals will take many years and often will not meet larger scale targets. This project aims to get youth involved in taking action to create better, more sustainable cities.

Jyoti resides in the Streetsville area of Mississauga. She is currently studying political science at the University of Toronto and believes that governments should be held accountable for the policies they enact that negatively affect our climate. YCI’s Youth Climate Leadership Program has allowed Jyoti’s idea to flourish and has grown her understanding of what it means to be sustainable, what society can do to reduce its carbon footprint and how to advocate for a greener city. Her goal is to ensure that youth understand they can make a change at all levels and that governments will have to listen.
