Climate ChangeHERS strives to create safe spaces to empower young adults in Peel Region to address local climate change issues, including “eco-anxiety” and how to cope. Through their Climate Community Council, they take a policy-driven approach to tackling climate change and educate the community on making informed voting decisions for our climate future. They offer informational guided hikes, resources to improve climate literacy, and opportunities for youth to get engaged – including learning how to write effective letters to MPs and attending local council meetings to make an impact. They hope to support Peel youth in making their own climate action projects that aim to translate science to common knowledge, promote engagement in green volunteer initiatives and create hubs between cities.
