Tanzania Youth Innovator Project – ZANGOC Emerging Leader Curriculum Innovator 
| Youth Challenge International (YCI) is recruiting one Youth Innovator for a partner capacity building project in Zanzibar, Tanzania to work with our local partner, ZANGOC. This exciting Youth Innovator opportunity will include a pre-project distance-learning program, followed by an intensive six-week placement in Zanzibar between September and October, 2012 (Dates Flexible). While in country, the Youth Innovator will provide technical expertise to develop a comprehensive curriculum for the Emerging Leader Program. |
Background: The Emerging Leader program started in 2011, to provide Professional Development courses for youth from ZANGOC member organizations. The program expanded to include leadership and good governance coursework. YCI would like to formalize a curriculum that includes private sector development, good governance and leadership course work.
Key Activities: In conjunction with partner staff: Review the Emerging Leader Program and lessons learned since the program’s inceptionDevelop a clear and simple curriculum for teaching the “Emerging Leader Program”, which includes leadership, governance and private sector development training for young leadersIncorporate youth friendly methodologies including multimedia and technology to create an interactive programProvide orientation to Emerging Leader Curriculum for YCI staff and volunteers and support the launch of the curriculum in ZanzibarDocument curriculum development and provide complete teaching manual prior to departureComplete final report to inform YCI and partner staff
Your Skills and Experience:Expertise in Curriculum DevelopmentExperience developing curricula for youth populationsStrong interest and knowledge in good governance, leadership and/or private sector development as it relates to young peopleExperience in facilitating trainings and workshopsExperience working with grassroots organizationsStrong planning and organization skillsPrior cross-cultural experience and strong inter-cultural communication skills
Fundraising Goal: YCI volunteers are required to fundraise and/or contribute a minimum of $600 for these projects to contribute towards YCI’s global youth development programs.
