The Edutainment session will give an overview of edutainment as a programming methodology using YCI programs as case studies. Participants will then have the opportunity to break into smaller groups and identify campus health issues that are relevant and could be addressed, in part, through student-led edutainment initiatives.

Then, with the help of YCI facilitators, participants will be able to formulate a plan to help implement their edutainment programs on campus.  The HIV/AIDS Sex trade worker program will use the Mombasa example as a case study to examine grass-roots HIV/AIDS programming using peer educators and volunteers and evaluate some of the strengths and weaknesses of the programming model.

The Ties that Bind… Hunger in our community and around the World
Volunteer Action Network Event, Ryerson University
Wednesday, February 10, 2010 - 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

The Poverty and Hunger team is working very hard planning a hunger awareness event titled: The Ties that Bind… Hunger in our community and around the World. We are making the local to global connection of hunger issues by hosting a panel of guest speakers who take action and promote positive change toward hunger issues.  There will be live music, refreshments and a raffle draw.

The event is being held on February 10th from 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Oakham Lounge at Ryerson University (63 Gould St, Toronto). Youth Challenge International is proudly presenting this event in association with the Continuing Education Students Association of Ryerson. Admission is only $5 and all are welcome.

Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. Please email: hungeractionteam@yci.org for tickets. Donations are welcome and all proceeds go directly to Youth Challenge International.

Additionally through our main sponsor, Ethical Bean Coffee we are selling 1 lb bags of coffee, with $6 of each $15 sale going to Youth Challenge International. Ethical Bean Coffee is not only delicious, but fairly traded and certified organic. This ensures that small-scale farmers in origin countries receive a fair price for their work and access to social change in their communities. There are 10 different roasts to choose from.
