November 27, 2009 - TYC presents The Cause
Toronto Youth Cabinet presents The Cause
Toronto Youth Cabinet (TYC) and the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) Presents: The CAUSE – a positive youth-led event that showcases youth-serving and youth-led organizations and the various opportunities available to young people. These opportunities range from leadership to violence prevention, artistic expression to recreation, employment to social justice and activism to education. The Cause provides youth with information about initiatives in communities throughout the city.
The event will kick-off with interactive workshops on art and anti-oppression where young people will be engaged in dialogue on issues pertaining to their realities.
Hosted by motivated young people, The Cause’s line-up features stunning performances by young artists including: DJ Zehra, J.D. Keyz (pianist), Kyauna Clarke (singer), Balu (beatboxer), Scott Jackson (beatboxer), P.O.S.E. (salsa dance group), The Mike Butlin Band (live band- rock music) and Nomanzland (social justice based theater group).
Following the performances, a free dinner will be served and inspiration speeches will be given from people that are paving the way through the social scene; Marcel DaCosta a.k.a "Frost" and Dalton Higgins.
This event is free and open to the public.
