February 11, 2009 - Volunteer of the Year Award!
Every year, Youth Challenge International asks its staff and alumni to nominate volunteers of distinction from among the participants on the previous year's projects for the Volunteer of the Year Award.  Past winners of this award have not only been exemplary volunteers while on project;  they demonstrated a continued and active involvement in community volunteer activities on their return.  They have also demonstrated a respect for, and willingness to act on, the values YCI carries in its programming - specifically, gender equity, global citizenship, active citizenship, and leading by example.

In recognition not only of the excellent contributions this individual made while on project in Ghana but also of the diverse and wonderful projects she spearheaded on her return, we are proud to honor Christa Bennett with the 2008 Volunteer of the Year Award!  We received a glowing review of her accomplishments in the field and at home from Robyn Agoston, YCI Project Officer in Ghana, and are happy to be able to show our appreciation of her efforts.

Congratulations Christa, and all the best in 2009!
