August 14, 2008: YCI responds to the deaths of aid workers in AfghanistanOn behalf of the Board, staff and volunteers of Youth Challenge International I would like to extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of Mohammad Aimal, Shirley Case, Nicole Dial and Jacqueline Kirk –- four International Rescue Committee workers ambushed and killed this week in Afghanistan.
Shirley volunteered overseas with YCI early in her humanitarian career and by all accounts was a positive, friendly and compassionate woman.
Her senseless death and the senseless death of her colleagues, is a deep and tragic loss to our community, to peace, and to the women and children of Afghanistan they were committed to improving the lives of.
