COMMUNITY CONNECTORS

Becoming a Community Connector is a great way to use your enthusiasm and interest in global issues in your home community. To become a Community Connector you should:

  • Be able to commit eight hours per month
  • Be a friendly, outgoing, self-starter and enthusiastic about YCI and youth development

What are the benefits?

  • Participate in leadership opportunities and connect with like-minded individuals
  • Develop your personal and professional skill sets and add to your resume
  • Access a wide variety of resources and support
  • Engage in dynamic networking opportunities
  • Turn your passion into action and make a positive change!

How does it work?

1. Sign up
Fill out the Community Connectors information form and start thinking of ways to connect your community or campus.

2. Attend training sessions and network with other connectors
We will connect throughout the year to learn and gain skills in facilitation, public speaking and event planning. Meetings will be conducted online—this will allow all members, whether in Saskatoon or New York, to participate.

3. Coordinate and participate in events in your community or on campus
Each connecter participates in two or more community events per season or semester. Events could include representation at community fairs, documentary film screenings, presentations to students, frosh week, concerts, rallies and other events on global youth development issues.

4. Network and communicate with YCI:
As you attend events and network on campus you will stay in touch with YCI and together we’ll increase the presence of youth development initiatives on campuses and in communities across Canada and the United States.
