Our experience in development overseas has shown us that we cannot hope to achieve the goal of sustainable human development if we focus only on issues in the developing world. Canada’s foreign policy, our own consumption patterns, and our national awareness of international issues, such as HIV/AIDS, have repercussions around the globe – making it all the more important for young Canadians to become involved in their communities. YCI’s Canadian programs are driven by a diverse and passionate group of volunteers who are determined to put the phrase ‘think globally, act locally’ into practice in a meaningful way. We can provide the experience, the tools and the support to take action – you provide the initiative and the commitment to turn dreams into realities. How will you make a world of difference?
Volunteer Action Network: Join a group of volunteers working as a team in taking action on a specific topic. Volunteer Action Network teams discuss the issues, create goals and mobilize in their communities from the grassroots up. Improve your team skills, network with like-minded people and get involved with work you are passionate about!
Volunteer Advisory Council: Bring your skills and experience to the governing body of the Volunteer Action Network. As a team leader, take your own initiative, manage a team of interested volunteers and share feedback and ideas with the other members of the Volunteer Advisory Council.
Returned Volunteers: As a YCI Alumni, take an active role in your community. Represent YCI at events, facilitate workshops and share your experiences with preparing volunteers.
